Mary Mischenko

"Cincinnati painter and draughtsman Mary Mischenko is well-known in this region for her paintings—but first and foremost for her drawings—of horses which have brought her to the attention of area collectors. I have had the privilege of working with Mary as curator of numerous area art shows, and her drawings of horses in motions, beautifully rendered in colored pencil or pastel, have enriched exhibitions with their flair for drawing and their ability to capture this most noble of animals in a variety of poses: movement is the key component which she is able to capture and put onto paper or canvas. A fine colorist, leaning more towards a bright pastel palette. Mishenko is also interested in the movement of dancers, particularly folk or ethnic dancers; dance is also a passion for her."
